How many times have you bookmarked an entire webpage for just a few lines of interest? Worse still, how often have you lost the link through changing browsers or devices?
Forget the redundant information you don’t need. Markup from Kdan Mobile is a smart new tool that lets you select text then save it for later. Useful for all types of online research, Markup is free to use.
What Do You Need to Highlight?
It might be schoolwork or research for a thesis. Perhaps you’re looking for a recipe or a particularly memorable quote. Whatever the case, if you can find the webpage and highlight the text, Markup will save it for you. It also works with PDF files.
Once saved, the page is stored in My Markups, an index of all the links and text you’ve saved. Full webpage URLs can be added, or you can just rely on the selected text copied to My Markups through the browser extension.
Your markup articles can be browsed in this list, or you can remove them. You might even Share the link – complete with highlighted text – to a preferred social network.
Create Your Markups on Your Desktop
Compatible with Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome browsers, Markup is incredibly simple to use. Should you prefer a mobile option, Markup is also available for iOS devices such as, iPhone and iPad. After installing the browser extension, just visit a website of interest. As soon as you spot text that you want to save, highlight it and click the pen icon. Choose a suitable color – you might use yellow, blue, green, and pink for different article types – and click away from the text.
This action adds the text and the URL to Markup. At the same time, the browser extension gives you the tools to toggle the highlighter, Share the page, or edit the highlight color (Annotations). Once the text is highlighted, it is ready to view in My Markups, just login to Markup, you will be able to access My Markups.
Here you’ll find all of your saved pages and even find copies saved to your account. While viewing the saved page, you have the option to check the Annotation (the highlighted area), get an Auto Summary (usually just the page title unless you upgrade to the pro version), and open the Original article. There is also the option to Remove the article or Share the page through a preferred social network.
