Lady Gaga Would Finally Be Making A Surprise Appearance At Oscars 2023

Lady Gaga is no stranger to the Oscars but she seems a little bit apprehensive about this year's award as reports suggest that she might have been avoiding being at the event because she's part of an ongoing film shoot. Glenn Weiss, the Oscars executive producer, told a press conference on March 8th that she wouldn't be performing at the event this year because of the commitment her role required in the film shoot; “Joker: Folie à Deux.”

“We have a great relationship with Lady Gaga and her camp. She is in the middle of shooting a movie right now. Here, we are honoring the movie industry and what it takes to make a movie after a bunch of back and forth. It didn’t feel like she can get a performance to the caliber that we’re used to with her and that she is used to. So, she will not perform on the show,” he said.

Fans have begun to settle with the fact that the music star wouldn't be performing at the event, only for a last-minute pleasant announcement that Lady Gaga would be making a surprise appearance at the 2023 Oscars on Sunday night and performing the Oscar-nominated song, "Hold My Hand". After several uncertainties about her performance, it's a delight to know she would finally be gracing the stage.

The Oscars would be shown live on ABC this Sunday evening by 5:00 pm PT at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.

Who Else Would Be Performing At The Oscars?

"Hold My Hand" makes Lady Gaga the first artist to ever receive three nominations in the Best Original Song category. It is also the sixth nomination that "Top Gun: Maverick" received. Her songs; "Til It Happens to You” from “The Hunting Ground,” and “Shallow” from “A Star Is Born,” have previously been nominated for best original songs in previous years with

"Shallow" won the award in 2019.  She was also nominated in the Best Actress category for her role in "A Star is Born".

Lady Gaga had always dazzled the stage with her amazing performance. Anyone present at the 2015 Oscars would remember the medley of four songs from " The Sound of Music" that she performed at the event's 50th anniversary.

Other Best Original Song Nominees like; Stephanie Hsu, David Byrne, and Son Lux (“This Is a Life”), Rihanna (“Lift Me”), Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava (“Naatu Naatu”), and Sofia Carson and Diane Warren (“Applause”) have been confirmed to perform at the event.

Lady Gaga's Involvement In The Movie, "Joker" Is Applaudable

It is no longer news that Lady Gaga is on the movie set and currently filming for the musical sequel to the 2019 "Joker". Her role as Harley Quinn was complimented by a movie star, Tom Cruise for her impact on the soundtrack. The actor revealed that she " helped compose the score" last year and it was amazing because it helped to open up the movie.

"It just opened those doors to the emotional core of the film that we had ... at that moment, things just came together in such a beautiful way. Her song that she'd written just fell right in and became, really, the underlying score and the heartbeat of our film," he gushed.
