How would you feel if you woke up and noticed some creepy-crawly sensation in your nose? Weird, right! Well this is what happened to a 58-year-old man in China who was a victim of this hilarious cockroach story.
Apparently this man had a cockroach lodged in his throat and it almost turned his life around completely. But the weird fact was that he didn’t know what was in his nose or why he was feeling uncomfortable.
Cockroach Lodged in Man’s Throat
Days after the cockroach invasion, this man had noticed that he was having bad breath. He was also coughing up some weird stuff that was yellowish and this started to give him concerns. Despite doing everything he could to fight this “symptom”, the stuff persisted and made him quite uncomfortable. At some point, he concluded that it was probably a flu infection or a minor cold.
But still he couldn’t shake off the irritation and bad breath, so he went to the hospital. Although ENT observation showed that nothing was wrong, it did nothing to abate his anxiety. The idea raging in his head was he had contracted some rare infection, or had something lodged in his throat. Now we all know how disturbing feelings like this can be, and especially the ways they can mess with daily productivity.
Medical Diagnosis: Roach in the Lungs
As his search continued, he sought the expertise of a specialist, Dr. Lin Ling, who was skilled in respiratory and critical care at the Hainan Hospital. This doctor was the one who requested for a chest CT scan that revealed the creepy looking shadow that was in his lower lung lobe.
This pointed to the presence of a foreign object in the man’s body. In a bid to get more understanding, the doctor performed a bronchoscopy which revealed the identity of the foreign object in the man’s body. According to the report, the doctor noted that something with wings was stuck in the patient’s bronchus.
Treatment and Recovery
Once the doctor identified the intruder in the man’s lungs, the next step was extraction. The area needed to be meticulously cleaned and the excess phlegm in the man’s lung was also removed. This helped clear out the airways and allowed the man to breathe better, reducing the offensive smell.
The funniest part was that once the cockroach had been removed from the man’s lung, all the symptoms he had been battling with vanished immediately. It must have been some relief for him as he was now sure that he wasn’t suffering from some rare virus or sickness.
The next day he was discharged from the hospital and could now go back to living his life. The question now stands, would he have some sort of trauma from the whole incident? Because he would most likely ensure that he kills all insects that come his way after this event, or worse still, wear a face mask to sleep.
The Bottom Line
It is not debatable that the man was happy that the case wasn’t worse than it turned out to be. It could have been far worse, as the insect was already inside of his respiratory system. You may want to take this as an advice to seek medical attention, the moment you sense something similar happening to you.
