Former singer and songwriter Robert Sylvester Kelly, popularly known as R. Kelly, who is currently serving 20 years in prison for sex trafficking charges in Chicago's Metropolitan Correctional Centre after being convicted on child pornography charges last year, has accused the prison medical staff of negligence and is unhappy about the way he’s being treated medically.
R Kelly was sentenced to prison after facing multiple allegations of sexual abuse and misconduct throughout his career, which he denied.
The “I Believe I Can Fly” crooner was heard ranting off in audio obtained by RapHouseTV about his alleged prison’s negligence regarding blood clots discovered in his legs, which later resulted in him having to have surgery on his Achilles tendon.
According to an interview by RapHouseTV, Kelly's latest blood clot procedure was alleged to be badly mistreated by the prison medical team. He also stated that he did not "deserve to die" and that "someone miscommunicated or made a guess as to what was wrong with my leg."
He continued; They didn't even conduct an X-ray. That is the reason why I am speaking out because I am afraid for my life in this area. And who wouldn't be?" "They treat their animals better than that," Kelly added.
He further called on those listening to imagine how they would have felt if one of their loved ones was in his situation and repeatedly being ignored while inside prison.
"If it was somebody you loved, your child, your father or your mother, you would have said, 'Go to the doctor, that has to be looked into, we must investigate this, we need to X-ray that,’" Kelly said.
Jennifer Bonjean, Kelly's lawyer, also accused the MCC prison medical staff of incompetence in March. She claimed Kelly was deprived of medical treatment and not properly cared for by the Bureau of Prisons after having surgery on his Achilles tendon due to suffering blood clots.
She alleged, "It's not just because he's R Kelly," Bonjean said earlier this year to ABC. "Every prisoner deserves proper medical care and attention. The MCC is obligated to handle these issues competently."
Meanwhile, Ronnie Bo, who was R. Kelly’s former cellmate, recently claimed that the singer believed JAY-Z once tried to have him killed.
He told Hip Hop News; I don’t know if this is going to sound outrageous like JAY-Z was trying to, but he felt like JAY-Z was trying to get him killed for whatever reason.”
Kelly Has Long Time Obsession And Multiple Charges Of Child Molestation
In 1994, R Kelly, then aged 27, married Aaliyah, a 15-year-old singer, at a secret ceremony in Chicago. The marriage was later annulled after it was discovered that the teenager lied about her age on the marriage certificate.
In June 2002, he was charged with 21 counts of making child sexual abuse videos involving various sexual acts. In 2017, he was also accused of trapping six women in a sex “cult” and taking advantage of them after they approached him for help with their musical careers.
R Kelly's release date remains unknown as prosecutor Jeannie Williams Appenteng stated, “The only way to make sure he will not re-offend is to impose a sentence that will keep him in prison for the rest of his life."
