In the Indian community, cows mean a lot and are classified as venerated animals. It is no surprise that the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi brought a calf into his home with lots of heartwarming photos circulating the internet. This new born calf, Deepjyoti now lives in the PM’s residence bringing joy and symbolism to the premises.

The Arrival of Deepjyoti

On Saturday, 14th of September, the Modi family welcomed a new member to their home in Lok Kalyan Marg, New Delhi. This new member, Deepjyoti is an adorable calf that was born at the residence and has since garnered social media attention due to its high status.

As a matter of fact, the Prime Minister Narenda Modi took to social media himself to announce the arrival of this new born calf “Deepjyoti” to his family.

He shared some heart warming and endearing photos and videos of the little one. He also mentioned that the calf's name Deepjyoti was from the symbol of light that was on its forehead, claiming it represents hope and positivity for India. All this endearment has brought so much joy and delight to animal lovers across the nation who have also sent their congratulatory messages.

PM Modi's Interaction with Deepjyoti

Based on the images and videos making rounds on the internet, we can tell that the PM is having a heartwarming time with the calf. In the videos, the PM can be seen playfully stroking the calf’s forehead, feeding it and also taking walks around the lush gardens of Lol Kalyan Marg. All of this points to the fact that the PM is quite happy about this new addition, seizing the opportunity to emphasize the special bond between humans and animals.

Well, it should be noted that this isn’t the first time PM Modi has been endearing towards cows. In the past, he has also shared a video of himself feeding Punganur cows, highlighting the significance of the act. These cows are a special breed that is native to south India and are known for their nutritious and drought resistant milk. By showing his affection for these cows, the PM is in some way emphasizing their importance to Indian culture and the place they hold in Hinduism.

Cultural Significance

But aside from all the display, what cultural significance do cows mean to the Indian people? Well the Indian tradition considers cows as revered creatures and a symbol of prosperity, compassion and nourishment. This in turn embodies the values of Ahimsa (non-violence) and Karuna (empathy) which are some of the tenets they hold dear. Based on the actions of the PM’s towards the calf, the people see it as some sort of adherence to cultural values.

Also, the Punganur cows also hold immense value to the rural people, as the cows are seen as a cultural identity, and means of livelihood. It is possible the PM’s actions might have passed a message across to the rural people who would see a leader that is keeping true to his promises and culture.

Wrapping Up

While the PM’s heartwarming moment could be taken on a lighter note, in reality, it holds a strong meaning for the people. If anything, it presents the Prime Minister as a compassionate leader committed to preserving Indian heritage.
