In the bustling city of Lagos, Oside Oluwole — a Nigerian gamer, breaks the Guinness World Record. Oluwole played the longest video game marathon for 75 hours straight. In an interview, Oluwole says, “It's a feat he was able to achieve thanks to his determination and his community.

Gaming has always been a passion for Oside Oluwole, A.K.A Khoded. It's why the man successfully sat through the Mobile Dream League Soccer 2023 for three days. He bested the 50-hour record Englishman David Whitefoot set in 2022.

Oside and His Surprising Game Choice

Oside chose to play Dream League Soccer for his marathon, which Guinness says is quite unusual for record holders.

Guinness officials say that “previous holders of this World Record usually go for Pro Evolution Soccer or FIFA, and Oside Oluwole would be the first to opt for Dream League Soccer instead.” Apparently, Oside has been a fan of the free-to-play Dream League Soccer since he first downloaded it in 2016.

During his gaming marathon, the Guinness World Record allocated five minutes of rest to Oluwole for every hour he spent playing the game. He was also allowed to stack his 5-minute break, so he could have a longer rest time after playing for hours. Oside played about 500 matches within these three days, and he was exceptional at them.

The “Why” Behind His Record Attempt

Everyone knows Oside Oluwole attempted the marathon for his personal achievement. But besides that, he did it for a nobler cause. He used the event to raise funds for a local hospital in his hometown. GWR says, “It shows his commitment to giving back to his community”

One of the most heartwarming aspects of this record-breaking attempt was the community support. However, it isn't surprising that Oside himself is a man who loves his community just as much. Friends brought in meals and healthy snacks, local businesses donated refreshments, and fans cheered him on, both online and offline.

Oside Oluwole’s victory is the first of its kind in GWR’s gaming attempt. According to the Guinness World Record, the longest gaming marathon record was first set in 2010 with 24 hours and has since been broken seven times in the past 11 years to 50 hours. Only Oside has successfully extended the timeframe so far in 11 years.

Oside acknowledges that Chef Hilda Baci, who rocked the entire country with her record-breaking cook-a-thon the year before, inspired him to go on this journey.

In his interview, he admits that he really enjoyed himself playing for 75 hours straight.

“It wasn't an easy task, but I must say it was all fun,” He says.

“It was such a great moment; the event was very interesting and I’m grateful to God that it was successful.”

The record-holder hopes to break more gaming records in the coming year.

A member of The Ogun State House of Assembly, Hon. Seun Adesanya, was particularly impressed by Oside’s determination and success. He commended him in a press release, saying, “The Guinness World Record Mr Oluwole received is a testament to his dedication, determination, and the hours of practice he put in to master the game.

His achievement is an inspiration to all aspiring gamers, and it shows the unyielding spirit of determination in our nation”

Oside Oluwole’s 75-hour gaming marathon is a celebration of the limitless possibilities within the gaming world. Cheers to Oside, the gamer who dared to dream big and succeed beyond measure.
