In a recent episode of Dax Shepard's podcast, Armchair Expert, Priyanka Chopra, the lead actress of Quantico, opens up about her previous love interests and the instant she crossed paths with Jonas, sparking a romantic connection.
"During the year 2016, I found myself in a tumultuous relationship. Our mutual friends disapproved of my partner and suggested that I should consider Nick, who they claimed was not truly involved with his girlfriend. However, the situation was complicated for both of us. In a conversation with Shepard, I revealed that Nick's brother and Kevin were fans of Quantico, a show I starred in, and network TV in general. Kevin even noticed me on a billboard and encouraged Nick to contact me." Chopra tells Shepard.
"Eventually, Nick slid into my DMs, but I suggested he text me instead to avoid my social media team seeing the messages. Nick saw through my excuse and realized I wanted him to have my number. At the time, I was hesitant to admit my interest in him due to my current relationship." Chopra explains.
Chopra admits to being in consecutive long-term relationships before meeting Jonas. She recalls being in the final stages of her previous relationship when Jonas messaged her. Initially, she hesitated to engage as she was 35 while Jonas was 25. Chopra had already experienced the excitement of casual dating and was ready to settle down. However, she admits to judging Jonas prematurely and not realizing that he was mature beyond his years. Chopra humorously describes Jonas as a 30-year-old with the mindset of a 70-year-old.
Although they initially started communicating in 2016, it was not until May 2018 that they went on their first date. They later got engaged and married in the same year. However, they did take photos together at the 2017 Met Gala, which they attended as single-ish individuals invited by Ralph Lauren. Chopra shared that they kept in touch with random texts during those two years and agreed to go to the event together when Ralph Lauren suggested it.
With fondness, she remembers Jonas acting as a "gentleman" towards her during the ceremony, remaining by her side throughout the post-carpet party. However, they would take some time before formalizing their relationship.
"I kept repeating the same mistakes in my relationships by choosing somewhat narcissistic partners. I needed to understand what it was about me that attracted them. I realized that I often felt gaslit and gave my partners too much power, always prioritizing their needs over mine.
I sought vulnerability in my relationships without realizing that it gave my partner an unfair advantage. While I've had both positive and negative experiences with my exes, my most recent relationship and the year and a half that followed before meeting my husband gave me valuable insight into my needs versus my wants."
"I've had some amazing relationships in the past, and my exes were a mixed bag - some good, some bad, some downright ugly. But each one played a role in shaping me into the person I was at that time.
However, my most recent relationship and the year and a half I spent single before meeting my husband gave me a clear understanding of what I truly needed, not just what I wanted," she explains.
Chopra and Jonas tied the knot in a multi-day celebration in December 2018, and four years later, in January 2022, they welcomed their first child, a daughter named Malti Marie.
Recall that Chopra took to her Instagram page on January 15, 2022, to reveal that she and Jonas had welcomed their first daughter, Malti, through surrogacy. A year later, on January 30th, 2023, it was reported that Chopra and Jonas made their debut with one-year-old Malti at the Hollywood Walk of Fame, where Jonas and his brothers, Joe and Kevin, were honored with stars for their collaborative work as the Jonas Brothers.
Also, according to BTS clips posted on Chopra's Instagram, Jonas expressed his admiration for his wife's positive impact on his life.
"You are the best thing that has ever happened to me, and I am grateful to be married to you," he declared. "I am also thrilled to be raising our child with you. Therefore, Malti Marie, I am eagerly looking forward to returning here with you after 15 years and making you blush in front of your pals."
