Wicked is a popular Broadway musical that tells the story of the Witches of Oz before the arrival of Dorothy Gale. The show has been a hit since its premiere in 2003, winning several awards, including three Tony Awards.

In 2021, it was announced that Ariana Grande would be joining the cast of the upcoming film adaptation of The Wicked. Grande is set to play the role of Glinda, the Good Witch of the South, alongside Cynthia Erivo, who will play Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West.

The opportunity to star in a primary film production like this is significant in her career, the musical world, and her fans. Grande has previously spoken about her love of musical theatre and her desire to be involved in more stage productions, which is like a dream come true.

Ariana Reveals Her Experience

In an Instagram post, she called the movie life-changing". She started by saying how grateful she is. "I am so grateful; I don't know what to do or say", she began. To be feeling, learning, and growing so much at such a disarming speed… to feel so much love around me, to begin each day before the sun is up and to end after it sets… to hold my brilliant twin flame/sister Cynthia's beautiful, green hands every day… to work in the safest, most beautiful and loving, biggest-yet-most-intimate/tiny-feeling spaces…" she continued. She also called director Jon M. Chu her "other Ozian best friend ever". She said he is "thoughtful, brilliant, compassionate, and said."

She said the film had been transforming and healing parts of her she never knew needed it, or maybe she did. She asked that she be forgiven for her Cancerian, rambly post. "Words don't suffice, but I suppose I just wanted to (attempt to) share a little", she added.

Several celebrities commented in support of Grande. Broadway star and pop singer Ben Platt wrote, "We are ready", while Gigi Hadid replied, "Feeeelin this and can't see u shine", while Katy Perry added three black heart emojis.

"Love love loves this and lowlives", Brie Larson added.

Per Glamour, Chenoweth told Andy Cohen of Grande, "She's gonna put her stamp on it… I'm so proud of her. I wanted her to do her Glinda. And that's what she's doing".
