Johnny Depp stars in the new historical French drama "Jeane du Barry," portraying King Louis XV.

The movie is directed, written, and produced by the French filmmaker Maiwen and is set to be a thrilling cinematic experience.

The movie's storyline centers around Jeane du Barry, an influential mistress of King Louis XV. Jeane, an illegitimate child of a seamstress, strategically uses her charm and intelligence to climb up the social and influential ladder.

Despite the scandalous rumors and opposition from the elites in society, Jeane becomes the king's most favored courtesan. With her cunning resilience, Jeane maneuvers through life's complexities to achieve her goal.

Johnny Depp Jeanne du Barry trailer shows Jeane becoming King Louis XV's favorite mistress as he falls head over heels in love with her, while noting her strategic move to Versailles against all opposition.

The movie has been on Maiwen's passion-fueled projects list for almost two decades; it was birthed by her alluring fascination with the movie character Marie Antoinette.

In an interview with Harper Bazaar, Maiwen said, " I discovered the characters earlier in 2006, all thanks to the movie by Sofia Coppola Marie Antoinette."

"The character was played by Asia Argento, I was captivated immediately when she appeared on the screen," she further explained.

His appearance in the movie was notable, but the Caribbean actor never considered it a comeback after his public dispute with Amber Heard. Instead, he talked about attending Cannes in 2023.

"I keep wondering how it's a comeback because I never went anywhere," the star acted noted.

"The notion of a word like that is unbelievable. I see not much need for Hollywood, but it feels strange, and at the same time funny, everyone wants to be themselves but they can't because they want to be the person everyone sees in front of them. Well, if you're living that kind of life, I want to wish you the best," he added.

Johnny Depp's new movie requires great effort as the actor reveals that transforming into the character of King Louis XV demands way more than embodying luxury costumes.

"First of all, I need to speak French that gets as close to the 18th century, so I worked with a French language coach who helped with pronunciation so that the words will come out of my mouth the most natural way and then I'll be able to focus on acting with my colleagues," said Depp.

Johnny Depp Jeanne du Barry's trailer has made the drama release so much anticipated, given the enthralling narrative it promises to unveil.

Tickets are available for purchase for those interested in watching the historical French drama, which will be showing in theaters across Canada and the US on May 2nd.
