She has publicly expressed her discontent with losing the Best New Artist award to Bon Iver in 2012, pointing out racial discrepancies in her comments.
She tweeted in 2020, "Never forget the Grammys didn’t give me my best new artist award [...] They gave it to the white man Bon Iver."
Nicki has been nominated for another award this year for her song from the Barbie soundtrack, but her recent criticisms of Grammy winner Megan Thee Stallion are drawing attention.
