Online music streaming platform Spotify took to its X social media account, formerly known as Twitter, to announce that Taylor Swift's new album "The Tortured Poet Department" has topped the list of most streamed albums on the app.
On the official Spotify X page, they wrote: "History has been made! On April 19, 2024, Taylor Swift's new album, The Tortured Poet Department, became the first album to hit over 300 million streams in one day."
To top it all off, Spotify declared that "Fortnight," Taylor's new single featuring Post Malone, also smashed the record for the most listened-to song in a day.

Barely two hours after the announcement, Taylor Swift shared the news of adding fifteen more tracks to the already sixteen album, ranking it up to thirty-one tracks on the blockbuster album.
The streaming platform also jogged back the public's memory, saying that Taylor Swift's recorded version of "1989" held the previous title of the most streamed song.
Even before Taylor Swift's new album, "The Tortured Poet Department," was released, the pop star singer had already set an outstanding record for most pre-saved albums on the Spotify countdown page a few hours before its release.
In a review of TaySwift'swift new album, it was said that Swift is in vigorous pursuit of classic stardom, which is great, but the songster is not ready for the not-so-good public opinions that come with it.
Taylor Swift is undeniably a super-talented music artist. Over time, she has proven that she has what it takes and can do much better.
Taylor told a fan in Melbourne during her Eras World Tour that the album "The Tortured Poet Department" had emerged from her need to write, and maybe we were never meant to hear it.
When Taylor Swift announced the album for the first time on her social media, she disclosed that "The Tortured Poet Department" was a secret twin of the album "Anthology."
"In the last two years, I have written a lot of tortured poetry and I would like to share it with you. [...] The story doesn't belong to me anymore, it's all yours now," she said.
Words on the Street say that Taylor will release another album, the third part of "The Tortured Poet Department," later this year or early next year, 2025.
