Would you like to spend some free time binge-watching the best shows on Hulu/Netflix dropping this August? We've compiled some top Netflix series ideas for you in this post.

Must-Watch TV Series to Watch in August

Some of the best series to watch in 2024 are returning this month, while new shows ready to blow viewers' minds are also set to feature on major streaming platforms soon. Hulu viewers will be more than glad to welcome the fourth season of the comedy-drama Only Murders in The Building. Industry's third season also returns with a blockbuster on London's world of high finance.

Top Netflix series like Emily in Paris return, while subscribers have a new murder mystery series, A Good Girl’s Guide To Murder, to savor and possibly rate this month. That said, let's check out a list of must-watch TV series in August.

1. Emily in Paris

Emily in Paris Season 4 returns after Alfie quits his relationship with Emily. The finale has Camille making the surprising claim that she was pregnant with Gabriel's baby.

As the synopsis explains, “Sylvie is forced to confront a thorny dilemma from her past for the sake of her marriage, and the Agence Grateau team navigates personnel shakeups. Mindy and the band prepare for Eurovision, but when funds run dry, they’re forced to get thrifty. Emily and Gabriel’s chemistry is undeniable as they work together towards a Michelin star, but two big secrets threaten to undo everything they’ve dreamed of,”

Emily in Paris premiers in two parts. Part 1 premiers on August 15, while Part 2 goes live on September 12.

2. A Good Girl's Guide to Murder

The new series A Good Girl's Guide to Murder is already making waves on Netflix after premiering on August 1 for Netflix viewers, signifying that viewers are possibly impressed with the mystery series. Perhaps that's because the BBC and Netflix's new murder mystery series is based on Holly Jackson's bestselling mystery trilogy.

Starring Wednesday actress Emma Myres, A Good Girl's Guide to Murder takes place five years following the alleged murder of Andie Bell, a high school student. The Police closed the case following her boyfriend's suicide, possibly linking him to the murder.

But 17-year-old Pip thinks Sal is innocent and teams up with Ravi, Sal's brother, to prove his innocence for a school project - an investigation that turns into an obsession she can't get over.

3. Industry

Industry returns in season three with an August 11 premiere date on HBO and Max in the US. Yasmin, Robert, and Eric find themselves ‘‘front and center in the splashy IPO of Lumi, a green tech energy company led by Sir Henry Muck,’’ reads the synopsis. Game of Thrones star Kit Harington hits Industry's screen as a new character.

Easily one of America's best series to watch in 2024, Industry promises the best of “Succession and Euphoria” as it unveils various Gen Z characters caught up in London's world of high finance.

4. Only Murders in the Building

In its fourth season, Only Murders in the Building returns the detective trip of Martin Short, Steve Martin, and Selena Gomez after Season 3 ended with events around Charles' stunt double alongside friend Sazz Pataki.

According to the Season 4 synopsis, "Questioning whether Sazz or Charles was the intended victim, our trio's investigation leads them to Los Angeles where a Hollywood studio is readying a film about the Only Murders podcast. As our amateur sleuths race back to New York, they embark on an even more epic journey — traversing their building's courtyard to delve into the twisted lives of the Arconia's West Tower residents."

Only Murders in the Building premieres 27 August on Hulu in the US and Disney+ in the UK.

5. Mr. Throwback

Mr. Throwback brings a mockumentary of renowned National Basketball Association (NBA) Champion Steph Curry to TV as it premiers August 8 on Peacock in the US. Steph Curry plays a version of himself in a sports-star-to-actor move with Adam Pally playing Danny, Steph's childhood friend.

Steph Curry – famous in the US as a champion in the National Basketball Association and a familiar face to non-sports fans from his Subway sandwich commercials – makes one of those, playing a version of himself in this mockumentary-style sitcom. Adam Pally plays Curry's childhood friend.

Danny had been the star of their middle-school basketball team but turned out to be a sports memorabilia dealer. Steph boosts Danny's reputation by making him the center of the documentary show producer Ego Nwodim calls "a trainwreck."

Conclusion

August brings new and returning amazing shows to Hulu, Netflix, MAX, and other major streaming platforms. While there are several different shows, Mr. Throwback, Only Murders in the Building, Industry, A Good Girl's Guide to Murder, and Emily in Paris are some of the best series to watch in 2024.
